Our University’s Initiative for Specialization in Vocational Education

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar visited Bucak Hikmet Tolunay Vocational School of Transportation and Logistics and met with academic and administrative staff. During the visit, the current activities, goals, and development process in the field of transportation-logistics of the vocational school were evaluated.

Speaking at the visit, our Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar stated that an important transformation process focused on quality in higher education, employment, integration with the sector, and applied education is being carried out under the leadership of the President of the Higher Education Council, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar. Dalgar expressed that as Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, they are bringing this vision together with the production power of the districts and the future goals of the students, emphasizing that vocational schools are being transformed into thematic structures that specialize in certain areas, respond more quickly to the needs of the sector, and provide students with strong professional skills.

In this context, Dalgar stated that the restructuring of Bucak Hikmet Tolunay Vocational School with the thematic identity of “Vocational School of Transportation and Logistics” is a strategic step, saying that Bucak has the potential to be a strong center in this field with its industry, trade, transportation connections, and logistics potential.

In his speech, our Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar expressed that they aim to create an education model that introduces students to the sector earlier, develops practical skills, and facilitates their transition to employment after graduation, stating:

“I believe that our Bucak Hikmet Tolunay Vocational School of Transportation and Logistics, which is unique in our university under the thematic name of Transportation and Logistics, will make significant contributions to our university, our Bucak, our region, and the qualified human resource goals of our country.”

The visit ended after evaluations were made regarding the educational activities of the vocational school and future projects.
