About the Programme

The Logistics Program is conducted within the Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Bucak Hikmet Tolunay Vocational School of Transportation and Logistics. The school was established in 1995 under the name Bucak Hikmet Tolunay Vocational School, was affiliated with Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University in 2006, and adopted its current name in 2026. The Logistics Program has been accepting students since 2011.

The Logistics Associate Degree Program trains professionals who will manage transportation, storage, inventory management, customs, insurance, and distribution processes in the supply chain from raw materials to end users. The program addresses road, sea, air, and rail transportation, logistics information systems, smart logistics, and artificial intelligence applications according to the current standards of organizations such as FIATA, UTIKAD, and ICC.

Programme Mission

To train professionals who carry out transportation types, warehouse and inventory management, foreign trade, and customs processes in accordance with regulations, analyze logistics data, use information technologies and artificial intelligence tools, and possess awareness of occupational health and safety and sustainability.

To be a program that combines practical training with smart logistics and sustainability principles, preferred by graduates in the national and international logistics sector.

Programme Educational Objectives

PEA1: Graduates conduct road, sea, air, and rail transportation operations in accordance with sectoral standards and regulations.

PEA2: Graduates manage warehouse, inventory, and material transportation processes; they convert logistics data into operational decisions through analysis.

PEA3: Graduates use logistics information systems, smart logistics technologies, and artificial intelligence tools in professional processes.

PEA4: Graduates act in accordance with occupational health and safety, sustainability, and ethical principles; take responsibility within the team and communicate with stakeholders in a foreign language.

Programme Outcomes

Students who successfully complete the programme achieve the following programme outcomes (PO):

  1. Understands basic concepts, theories, and legal regulations regarding logistics and supply chain management.
  2. Conducts foreign trade transactions and customs processes in accordance with current legislation.
  3. Conducts road, sea, air, and rail transport operational processes according to sectoral standards.
  4. Implements processes regarding warehouse design, inventory management, and material handling systems in the field.
  5. Develops appropriate insurance and solution proposals by analyzing risks encountered in logistics operations.
  6. Evaluates the environmental, social, and ethical impacts of logistics processes within the framework of sustainability principles.
  7. Effectively uses the native language in oral and written communication processes, possessing an awareness of historical development and social values.
  8. Transforms logistics data into operational decision-making processes by interpreting them with analytical methods.
  9. Effectively uses logistics information systems and information technologies in professional processes.
  10. Demonstrates AI applications and modern technological tools in developing logistics solutions.
  11. Conducts a comprehensive study in the field of logistics independently by utilizing information sources effectively.
  12. Takes responsibility within a team in logistics operations and communicates effectively with stakeholders.
  13. Manages learning requirements by evaluating the acquired knowledge and skills in the field with a critical approach.
  14. Uses a foreign language at a level sufficient to follow professional developments and communicate with international stakeholders.
  15. Exhibits a professional attitude in accordance with legal regulations regarding management of logistics enterprises, occupational health, and safety.

Internship

In the Logistics Program, students must complete a 20 working days mandatory internship as a graduation requirement. The internship is carried out in public or private sector organizations suitable for the program's professional field, in accordance with the internship calendar determined by the Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Vocational Schools Internship Directive and the School Board.

Accreditation

The Logistics Program of the Bucak Hikmet Tolunay Vocational School of Transportation and Logistics is continuing self-assessment and accreditation preparation studies in accordance with the criteria of the Association of Vocational Schools Accreditation (MEDEK).

The program's educational activities are regularly reviewed with a continuous improvement approach based on the opinions of students, graduates, and employers, as well as the recommendations of the program advisory board.

Reports and Indicators

Activity reports related to the program, unit self-assessment reports, student and stakeholder survey results, and performance indicators are published on our school's quality pages.

Continuous Improvement

Within the program, student satisfaction surveys, advisory meetings, internal and external stakeholder opinions, and graduate feedback are regularly evaluated. Improvement activities are planned, implemented, and necessary updates are made by monitoring the results based on the data obtained.
