About Us

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Bucak Hikmet Tolunay Vocational School Child Development Program is a 2-year associate degree program that high school graduate students can enter based on the results of the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS). Students are also admitted to the program through lateral transfer. The conditions for lateral transfer are regulated by the university administration each year through regulations/guidelines. Graduates of the Child Development Program are awarded the "Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Bucak Hikmet Tolunay Vocational School Associate Degree Diploma."
Students who graduate from this program with sufficient knowledge and skills meet the need for intermediate staff in public and private sectors in preschool education institutions, integration schools, and special education institutions.

The main aim of the Child Development Program is to train personnel who embrace the importance of child development and education, recognize the developmental characteristics of children, are knowledgeable about their habits and needs, and can take precautions against problems children may encounter.
Additionally, the program aims to train technical personnel who can recognize children in need of special education, organize suitable educational environments for these children, are conscious about maternal health, can prepare educational toys suitable for children's developmental levels and evolving technology, and can prepare daily menus and foods in accordance with principles in the institution they work for.

Accreditation

Bucak Hikmet Tolunay Vocational School Child Development Program has made its official application for the accreditation process of the Vocational Education Evaluation and Accreditation Association (MEDEK) with the aim of exceeding national standards in education quality and documenting the professional competencies of its graduates. Our program is currently in the evaluation process within the framework of quality criteria determined by MEDEK.

Our program, which acts with the vision of continuously improving our educational activities, structures its student-centered education approach, academic staff depth, and practice unity processes in line with accreditation standards.

As the Child Development Program, our main goals in this process are:

To train well-equipped professionals with scientific and ethical values that will support the healthy development of the child,

To regularly update the educational curriculum in line with the changing needs of the sector and society and stakeholder opinions,

To ensure sustainable success in education by operating measurement, evaluation, and quality assurance mechanisms with the principle of continuous improvement.

The efforts we are conducting towards MEDEK accreditation are part of our commitment to certify the quality of education we offer in the field of Child Development and to prepare future child educators at the highest standards.

Program Mission

To internalize the vital importance of child development and education; to train technical personnel who can analyze the physical, mental, and social development characteristics of children with an academic discipline. We undertake the task of meeting the need for intermediate staff who can provide suitable environments for children with special educational needs, are conscious of mother-child health, can develop educational materials compatible with technology, and are committed to ethical values and solution-oriented.

Program Vision

To be an associate degree program that successfully applies current educational technologies and pedagogical approaches in the field of child development, preferred first in both public and private sectors due to the competence of its graduates, and is a leading and exemplary program at the national level.

Employment Opportunities for Graduates

Students who graduate from our program can work as administrators, teachers, and teacher assistants in private nurseries and kindergartens, as administrators, teachers, and teacher assistants in special education and rehabilitation centers, as master instructors in kindergartens affiliated with the Ministry of National Education and in preschool classes affiliated with primary schools, as parent educators in private research and consultancy companies, as designers in the children's publications and toys sectors, and as child care personnel for the children of working parents.

Vertical Transferable Departments

Graduates of the Child Development Program have the right to continue with a bachelor's program related to their field of graduation if they succeed in the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) conducted by ÖSYM.
